Responsible Dog Ownership
"I want a dog".
Many people decide they would like to own a dog without thinking about the responsibilities that are involved in owning and caring for an animal.
A large proportion of owners are either out at work for long periods of the day or have very young children.
A dog does not sit on the settee playing on the computer. Its needs excersise and stimulus - walks, play, training and needs to be good with other dogs.
Your dog needs to have a name tag with your details i.e. telephone number and your address (a legal requirement), also Microchipped in case you lose your dog which will help to swiftly reunited your dog to you.
Your dog needs to be neutered. A dog is not a money making machine so do not treat it like one, it's a pet and a member of the family .
Many people think they can breed from their dog make lots of money. Unfortuantely there are too many unwanted puppies abandoned.
Our advice is go to a dog rescue and give a home to an unwanted dog.
Do your research first into what type of dog will best fit your family circumstances.
Remember a dog is for life and is part of the family.
Many Councils promote responsible dog ownership and most Council's Micro Chip FREE

Cruelty to Dogs
Warning, you may find the following pictures disturbing

This poor dog had been starved. He was Micro Chipped by the kennel in October 2012. I spoke to the owner and stated my concern about the condition of his dog. Late December the dog was dumped.

Despite the vets and R S P C A being given the details and because the dog had no clinical problems we had no case for cruelty. The RSPCA said if the owner does come forward we are to give the dog back and they will follow it up in a few weeks. By then I am sure the dog would be dead. I did find this hard to understand that both the vets and the RSPCA said the dog is not suffering, it has been neglected. What is the difference between suffering and neglect??
